Beach House Bliss

A new spa elevates one of Cape Cod’s prestigious resorts.

Over the course of five years, the Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club on Cape Cod has transformed. It’s a metamorphosis that began with a $40 million renovation of the entire property—including the introduction of redesigned two- and three-bedroom villas in 2013—and has since opened Ocean Terrace, an indoor/outdoor dining locale that offers views of Cape Cod Bay, and the Beach Bar, a 32-seat covered bar that—as its name suggests—is perched on the dunes of the resort’s private beach. This spring, the resort made another big splash when it opened The Beach House Spa, a 4,600-square-foot facility that provides an eclectic list of services to resort guests, club members, and the general public.

Accented by beach wood and featuring décor in a variety of soft blue, green, and sand tones, the spa is equipped with its five treatment rooms (including a couple’s massage room) and is now a go-to destination for resort guests following their rounds on the property’s 7,000-yard, Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course or after they’ve pedaled out to the Cape Cod National Seashore on one of the resort’s three-speed, cruiser bicycles. Via a variety of Swedish and deep-tissue massages, Beach House Spa therapists prove their expertise at easing tension in the muscles associated with those (and other) activities.

The spa can also improve the minds and bodies of golfers through a number of holistic wellness programs, including an introduction to meditation and acupuncture, as well as golf-focused yoga sessions and other yoga classes tailored specifically to men.

Like most other spa facilities, The Beach House is equipped with dedicated manicure and pedicure areas; however, unlike many other spas on Cape Cod, The Beach House is one of the only facilities to offer the HydraFacial, a non-invasive treatment that delivers the benefits of microdermabrasion and a chemical peel. It also delivers a mixture of antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and peptides to the skin without causing post-facial downtime or irritation.

Beyond all of the aforementioned ways that the Beach House Spa can enhance a guest’s stay at the resort, it most impacts brides and bridal parties. Prior to the spa’s opening, Ocean Edge did not have a dressing area that lived up to the resort’s own luxurious standards. Now, the spa’s Side Porch, a comfortable and private lounge, provides an ideal locale for pre-wedding primping with make-up stations, a blow-dry bar, and spacious dressing areas.

“The Beach House Spa,” says Suzanne Corcoran, the spa’s developer, “was created to address everything we felt was missing on the Cape.”
