Ocean Home 50: Our Top Coastal Architects of 2015 William T. Georgis




William T. Georgis Architect has designed and completed numerous residential, institutional and commercial projects in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean.

These include new homes in Southampton, New York, the Bahamas, Montana, La Jolla, Calif., many New York City townhouses, a pied-a-terre for a South American couple at the Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan, the Tiffany Gallery at the Museum of the City of New York, Casa Lever restaurant in Manhattan, and the interiors of a Gulfstream G650 jet.

In addition, Georgis has completed the design of cutting-edge Manhattan condominium projects at 350 West Broadway and 530 Park Avenue, and completed designs for the Gramercy Park Hotel.

In 1999, 2007, 2010, and 2014 he was included in Architectural Digest's AD 100 list of top architects and interior designers. A monograph of his work, Make It Fabulous: The Architecture and Designs of William T. Georgis was published by The Monacelli Press in 2013.

Prior to establishing the firm in 1992, Mr. Georgis was an architect for Robert Venturi of Venturi, Rauch and Scott Brown in Philadelphia, and was an associate architect for Robert A.M. Stern Architects from 1984 to 1992.

At the Stern office, he designed the winning entry, and supervised the completion of the Norman Rockwell Museum at Stockbridge, Mass. He is also responsible for the design of the Roger Tory Peterson Institute for the study of natural history in Jamestown, N.Y.

His work has been exhibited at the National Academy of Design and Columbia University in New York; and his work is included in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Art Institute of Chicago; and the Denver Art Museum in Colorado.

Georgis is a graduate of Stanford University, Calif., and Princeton University in New Jersey.
