It’s a busy summer for two sister New England island resorts with the launch of a new wing of guest suites at the The Nantucket Hotel & Resort, a new signature restaurant at Winnetu Oceanside Resort on Martha’s Vineyard, and a stylish canvas bag debuting at both hotels.

The new wing of five luxury cottage guest suites at The Nantucket resort, designed by top New England interior designer Kevin O’Brien, has a glamorous yet breezy coastal vibe, inspired by Nantucket’s classic beach homes but with a contemporary twist.

While the exterior of the resort dates back to 1891, the chic interiors feature all the modern aesthetics and conveniences of Nantucket 2015, fusing faded denim with nautical stripes, eye-catching Ikat prints, boat rope piping, chain base lamps, large wing beds and embossed resin furniture.

Pretty Batik florals are combined with “pops” of the famous ‘Nantucket Red’ as a color injection. The Nantucket was fully renovated in 2012, and is the island’s only year-round resort.

Its sister resort at Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard, Winnetu Oceanside Resort, has unveiled a new signature restaurant to replace the former Lure Grill, with a new name, décor, concept and menus to offer an elevated gourmet experience at the award-winning resort.

Executive chef Matthew Passalacqua will spearhead the exciting culinary revival at The Dunes, creating delicious coastal cuisine inspired by local, seasonal and sustainable produce.

O’Brien has designed an eclectic and nostalgic look to the new South Beach eaterie, blending bohemian beach chic and mid-century modern with crisp white woodwork, navy blues and natural linen fabrics.

Children are welcome, and events at The Dunes can range from cocktail receptions to evening dinner parties, weddings and corporate functions, with seating for up to 145 people. The restaurant’s deck offers glorious views of South Beach and the ocean.

Diners with reservations can also take a complimentary water taxi cruise or shuttle van from Edgartown to The Dunes.

Both resorts have also launched an exclusive brand collaboration with New England’s Canvas Bag Machine debuting the stylish Nantucket & Winnetu Tote guests and visitors.

The handcrafted bag retails for $130 and is available online and at both the Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard resorts.
