This Saturday, December 3rd, at 6pm sharp, hundreds of sparkling white lights will illuminate the 25-foot tree at our historic wharf during the 46th Annual Bowen’s Wharf Christmas Tree Lighting. The whole family can join in caroling, meeting Frosty the Snowman, and to whisper their wishes to Santa, and Mrs. Claus at ‘The North Pole’.

Visitors and locals are encouraged to make a day of it: Brunch, lunch or dinner reservations at one of our four award-winning restaurants – 22Bowen’s was recently named one of the top 100 steakhouses in the US by Open Table.

Get to know Newport better with a tour from The Pilot House at Bowen’s Wharf, where over 20 are on offer: Seal Watches with Save the Bay, visit the new ‘Big, Bold & Brassy’ exhibit at Audrain Automobile Museum, ride the Santa Express Train, tour Doris Duke’s Rough Point Mansion or enjoy the fresh air and brush up on local lore with a walking tour through Newport’s Old Quarter.

Shoppers: we’ve made it even easier! Newport Holiday Stroll also starts this weekend, and runs through December 11, with live music at ‘The North Pole’ both weekends. Over 30 Bowen’s Wharf business owners, and countless others throughout town, are offering in-store promotions, gift-wrapping, shipping and other holiday assistance. Meander through the waterfront where businesses and galleries are open until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays through the month, and until 5pm or later on Sundays.

December 3: Festivities begin at 4:30 pm with Frosty the Snowman. The Christmas Carol Sing-a-long begins at 5 pm, with Bianca Sings, the well-known vocalist recently written up in Rolling Stone. Restaurants & shops are open before and after the event. Some businesses will offer free refreshments, early afternoon caroling, and shopping specials — all are decorated for the season! The Bowen’s Wharf parking lot will be open until 4 pm the day of the tree lighting.

December 3 & 4: Velo-fix Southcoast will be on site with ski tuning and electric bicycle demos. Live music at ‘The North Pole’ adjacent to the giant Christmas Tree and Anchor of Newport.
