Cape Cod’s beloved Chatham Bars Inn is rolling out a series of Enriching EsCAPES that promise guests will leave the resort with more than fond memories and a little stray sand between the toes. The series launches with a Fine Art Weekend in April and continues with a Farm to Fork Weekend in May. Both include two nights’ accommodations and daily breakfast for two. The special weekend getaways, focused on highlighting the best of Cape Cod, will pick up again in the fall season, with themes unveiled as the enrichment calendar fills.

Fine Art Weekend (April 17-19)

The weekend begins with a Friday evening cocktail reception and painting demonstration by award-winning Cape Cod acrylic painter Odin Smith. On Saturday, after breakfast at leisure, guests will spend the morning at the Chatham Creative Arts Center for a three-hour painting class with Smith, who is known for her spontaneous approach to landscapes that capture light effortlessly. Guests will learn color mixing and brush techniques and all students will receive one-on-one instruction to help their individual styles come through.

Saturday afternoon brings an optional jewelry class with Anne Hanson, a metalsmith who creates handmade jewelry in mixed metals (first come, first served and additional fee applies). A guided nature walk thereafter introduces guests to Chatham through the eyes of a naturalist.

Sunday breakfast caps off the weekend’s offerings, allowing guests to enjoy the resort’s many appeals, from its private beach to its intimate sea-inspired spa. Rates for the Fine Arts Weekend start at $399 per night, based on double occupancy, and include tax and gratuity as well as all class materials.

Farm to Fork Weekend (May 15-17)

Home gardeners and epicureans alike will find plenty of inspiration in this rewarding weekend. Guests are treated to a welcome amenity on arrival Friday evening and can enjoy the resort at their leisure through Saturday breakfast.

The enrichment begins with a Saturday farm tour and hands-on workshop with Chatham Bars Inn’s own farm manager, Josh Schiff. Acquired by the resort in 2012, the farm uses organic methods to grow essential kitchen ingredients and staple crops that supply virtually all of the produce for the resort’s restaurants – as much as 25,000 pounds each year.

Guests’ hands-in-the-dirt time will be rewarded Saturday evening with a harvest dinner at STARS and hosted by Schiff, complete with wine pairings.

Rates for the two-night Farm to Fork Weekend start at $499 per night, including tax and gratuity, based on double occupancy. www.chathambarsinn.com
