The Legends Tour, official senior tour of the LPGA, will return to Delray Beach for the 3rd annual Walgreens Charity Championship presented by The Seagate Country Club. As the final stop on the tour’s 2016 schedule, the championship kicks off Thursday, October 27, and wraps up Sunday, October 30, with a performance by Australian rock band, Little River Band.

“We are thrilled to return to the Delray Beach area for our season finale in 2016,” said Jane Blalock, 27-time LPGA Tour champion and CEO of The Legends Tour. “Walgreens continues to be a terrific partner and The Seagate Country Club is definitely a draw for our players. Our fields here just keep getting stronger.”

Last year’s event champion, Liselotte Neumann of Sweden, picked up her second Legends title with consecutive rounds of 68 in the 36-hole event. Neumann holds 13 LPGA Tour titles and won the 1988 U.S. Women’s Open. The 52-player field included eight members of the LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame. The 2016 field, while yet to be determined, is expected to welcome back many Hall of Famers, including Nancy Lopez, Juli Inkster, Pat Bradley, and JoAnne Carner. Neumann will defend her 2015 title.

“We are honored and excited to once again be hosting the incredibly talented players of The Legends Tour at our championship golf course,” stated E. Anthony Wilson, CEO of Seagate Hospitality Group. “The Seagate Country Club has hosted some of the world’s greatest golfers, and we’re excited to see what new legends will be born at our world-class golf facility.”

The schedule of events includes a pro-am to be played on Thursday, October 27; two rounds of professional competition to be held Saturday, October 29, and Sunday, October 30; and a special concert featuring national recording artist, Little River Band, following Sunday’s final round.

Considered one of Australia’s most significant bands, with over 30 million in record sales, this year marks the second time Little River Band has performed at the Walgreens Charity Championship.

“The energy from last year’s concert was incredible,” says lead singer Wayne Nelson. “We’re excited to be back on stage among a great crowd, enjoying the beautiful autumn weather in South Florida. It should be another memorable night at the beautiful Seagate Country Club.”

Daily admission to professional tournament rounds will be $15 per adult, and all ticket proceeds will once again benefit the Dan Marino Foundation and the Achievement Centers for Children and Families. Starting September 15, fans can save $5 per ticket by purchasing at area Walgreens. Kids 13 and under and all active military personnel with ID are admitted free. Sunday’s tournament ticket includes admission to Little River Band’s performance following play.

“Walgreens is proud to once again partner with the Legends of the LPGA in their return to the outstanding Seagate Country Club,” said Walgreens Regional Vice President Roy Ripak. “We are excited to bring this level of competitive golf to beautiful Delray Beach and support key charity partners in our community.”
