Founded in 1977, Cutler Anderson Architects has evolved to understand that the ultimate objective of any architectural design is to reveal what is true about all of the circumstances of a project.

From place to program and materials to shape, all components need to be understood and designed into a harmonious whole that reveals each component’s nature.

This single-minded attitude has led to successful and award-winning projects on three continents. The firm’s staff of 13 is currently engaged in projects in Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, as well as work in 10 U.S. States.

“Our ultimate goal on every project is to produce projects that are not only beautiful but also emotionally enlightening,” says founder and principal Jim Cutler.

Cutler Anderson Architects is internationally renowned for its environmental awareness and attention to detail. “The firm’s approach to design can be stated simply as an attempt to reveal the nature of every circumstance – the nature of the institution that we house, the nature and significance of the place in which it is located, and the nature and power of the materials with which we build,” Cutler adds.

The firm has designed more than 300 residential, commercial and cultural projects worldwide, and an array of associated home products including hardware, furniture, and lighting. The firm offers these home products through its exclusive affiliate, Reveal Designs.

Dedicated to design excellence, Cutler Anderson Architects has received six National Honor Awards from the American Institute of Architects and more than 40 national and regional design awards.
