First established in Greenville, S.C. in 1992, Maresca and Associates expanded into Charleston 10 years ago, and recently opened an office on Pawley’s Island.

Its design philosophy is rooted in the classics, with contextual reference and an understanding of the fine and decorative arts. Even its contemporary designs are known for their foundation in the classical principles of scale and proportion.

One of its hallmarks is the integration of architecture, landscape architecture, lighting, furniture, textile and interior design – to the point of creating its own paint colors.

In this way, the firm recalls the very fine, all-encompassing artisanship of Andrea Palladio, McKim Meade & White and Edward Durell Stone, whom it cites as influences.

It was the first outside designer for the Urban Electric Company, one of the most highly recognized lighting companies in the industry and an important contributor to the successful return of lighting manufacturing to the U.S.
