The National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE) has again recognized Ocean Home magazine as a top shelter publication. In June, Ocean Home received a silver award in NAREE’s editorial category for Best Design, Home or Shelter Magazine. The prestigious award, now its 64th year, gives recognition for excellence in reporting, writing, and editing stories about residential, commercial, and financial real estate and home and design. This is the fourth year OH has been recognized as a top shelter publication by NAREE.

All award winners are selected by a panel of expert judges from the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. Professor Emeritus Patrick S. Washburn, a former news reporter and editor, chaired the panel. In a comment about Ocean Home magazine, judges said, “We were grieving that we were not sitting on a stunning beach like those appearing throughout this magazine. A wide range of well-written stories offered an insiders’ take on featured locales.”

NAREE presented the awards Friday, June 13, 2014, at its 48th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference at the Westin Oaks hotel in Houston. OH Managing Editor, Melissa Gillespie, represented the award-winning team at the event and participated in a panel session on the state of real estate coverage. Joining her on the panel were editors from Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Sarasota Herald-TribuneThe Real Deal, and France Media.
