Top mixologists from two leading resorts have created some spooky cocktails perfect for this weekend’s Halloween parties or just to get into the fall spirit.

The Zak-O-Lantern, created by Whiteface Lodge’s Lead Mixologist Zachary Blair, is a pumpkin inspired highball that is made only from fresh ingredients. Using spiced rum as the base, the cocktail is mixed with a handmade Hickory Syrup.

This is combined with a homemade pumpkin puree that pairs well with the Hickory and has a nice woody finish. Finally, the drink is topped off with club soda, making this a light, refreshing autumn cocktail.      



2 oz spiced rum

1 oz hickory syrup

Splash of lemon

Bar spoon of pumpkin purée

Shake ingredients

Pour in high ball with club soda

Garnish with a cinnamon stick

2 oz. 1800 silver tequila

.5 oz. Cointreau

1 oz. fresh lime juice

1 oz. simple syrup

.5 oz. orange juice

Shake and strain in a Collins glass over fresh ice with a black sugar rim and a lime wheel


1.5 oz. Vanilla Stoli

1.5 oz. Godiva White Chocolate

1/8 tsp fresh vanilla

Shake and strain in a martini glass with a marshmallow ghost

Vampire Kiss

1.5 oz. Titos

1.5 oz. Chambord

1 oz. cranberry juice

Splash of fresh lime juice

Shake and strain in a martini glass with a red candy rim
