Showcasing a crisp look thanks to extensive off-season renovations, Union Street Inn, a boutique-style, Nantucket B&B located in a historic 1770 whaling captain’s home, opened on April 26th for its 19th season.  Major updates to guestrooms, common areas and landscape have refreshed the inn, enhancing the guest experience through the 2013 season.

Ideally located in the heart of downtown Nantucket, just off Main Street’s cobblestones and the harbor, Union Street Inn showcases tailored, elegant interiors, while respecting the house’s period details. Thoughtful renovations, the latest of the owners’ loving upgrades, cleverly incorporate the modern traveler’s needs while complementing the house’s iconic Nantucket style.

New interior décor, the vision of New England interior designer Trudy Dujardin, owner of Dujardin Design Associates, honors timeless Nantucket summer resort style, using blues, whites and yellows in fresh, tailored designer fabrics, wallpapers and accents. All 12 renovated guestrooms feature new designer furniture, wallpaper, lighting, artwork and accessories. Private bathrooms, luxurious bedding with Frette linens & Matouk duvets, bath amenities by (MALIN+GOETZ), flat-screen televisions and complimentary Wi-Fi remain signature trappings.

The foyer, living room, dining room and kitchen have been updated with sophisticated touches, including a new, built-in library fully stocked with hardback titles ranging from contemporary fiction to design and Nantucket classics. Guests will enjoy Union Street Inn’s generous outdoor green space, completely reimagined by Nantucket landscaper Marty McGowan of The Sconset Gardener. An expanded patio and a new, intimate ladies’ garden allow guests to enjoy breakfast, afternoon tea & sweets or a glass of wine before or after dinner amid the property’s remarkable downtown green space, tucked behind privets, dogwoods, boxwoods, hydrangeas and beds of English ivy.

Union Street Inn’s signature amenity is its home-style breakfasts, available in the dining room, on the garden patio or in bed – it’s the only Nantucket B&B to serve a full cooked-to-order breakfast. Co-owner Deborah Withrow’s menu features dishes like French toast with local Challah bread, fresh berries and Vermont maple syrup and smoked salmon on a toasted bagel with cream cheese, tomatoes, fresh chives and dill.  In addition to home-baked cookies, guests look forward to the inn’s house-made carrot cake and brownies in the afternoon.

Owners and hosts Deborah & Ken Withrow utilize their backgrounds in hotel management (Ken as GM of The Royalton/NYC for Ian Schrager) and retail management (Deb as display manager for Henri Bendel & Fiorucci/NYC) to create personalized experiences for their guests. This season, they are offering several packages, which speak to their love and knowledge of the island.

The Spring Getaway Package is the perfect respite for travelers looking to make an early season escape to experience Nantucket’s unparalleled restaurants, shopping, museums, beaches and galleries.
