The Westin Playa Bonita opens in Panama.

Flanked by rainforest and the Pacific Ocean, Panama’s ultra-luxe Westin Playa Bonita opened earlier this year along a stretch of golden shoreline just outside Panama City. The beach haven sets the stage for an exotic experience, with three freshwater infinity pools that showcase views of the Pearl Islands and ships lining up for travel along the Panama Canal. The hotel has 611 guestrooms, including 67 spacious suites, six restaurants, four bars, and a fitness center.

In August, the resort welcomed its Aquabella Sensory Spa by Clarins. Merging holistic therapies and innovative spa technologies, the full-service spa employs a signature “Thermal Circuit Experience”—a sequence of treatment chambers, which deliver alternating hot, cold, and hydrotherapy experiences. Treatment rooms include an Egyptian mud chamber, ice shower room, and amethyst crystal steam room.

Aquabella is located within Pearl Club, which is slated to be fully open in October. Upon completion, in addition to the spa and a modern fitness center (already open), Pearl Club will house three additional function rooms on its top floor. There will also be a restaurant and bar. On Pearl Club’s first level, there is an outdoor VIP infinity pool with built-in four-poster shaded palapas and a Roman-style waterfall pavilion. For a more exclusive experience, the hotel’s 19th-floor VIP lounge, complete with cabanas and cocktail service, is the perfect rooftop setting for soaking up the sun and enjoying ocean views. westinplayabonita.com.
