Patrick Ahearn, FAIA, specializes in historically motivated architecture and interior design. Over the past four decades, his volume of finely crafted and detailed residential work spans a multitude of classic styles of architecture from city town houses to island homes.

While Ahearn’s experience lends to his ability to be versatile in project type and location, his prestige most notably stems from his endeavors to preserve the historic Edgartown Village on the island of Martha’s Vineyard.
Ahearn has vested his career in recreating the historical stories inherent in Edgartown’s private residences and public buildings in such a way that also addresses the needs of the contemporary landscape and lifestyle.
With more than 120 houses and public buildings in Edgartown Village designed in renovation or new construction, Ahearn is celebrated for significantly enhancing the overall streetscape and public realm while esteeming the aesthetic and history of the locale.
Ahearn’s involvement in the island community and culture is extensive, which allows for his unique understanding and architectural perspective in such a community.
Some of Ahearn’s contributions include his roles as a trustee of the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, a trustee of the Martha’s Vineyard Preservation Trust, and a member of the Island Affordable Housing Fund Board.
In addition, Ahearn has maintained an active presence in the Syracuse University community where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design degree in 1973.
He is a major benefactor of the Syracuse University School of Architecture and also serves on the New England Regional Council of the Syracuse University Alumni Association.
Renowned for his skill and expertise, Ahearn has received many awards, including his recent induction into the Fellow of the American Institute of Architecture, and has been featured in many leading homes publications.
